Fantasy – printing workshop

Linolschnitte mit verlorener Platte

Printmaking workshop at the International Winter Academy Scheersberg 2025

December 7–13, 2025
International Educational Center Jugendhof Scheersberg/Schleswig-Holstein
Workshop leaders: Andreas Wendt and Alexander Frohberg, Leipzig

On Scheerberg/Skærsbjerg (mountain with stones), leaves are blown from the trees, fog rolls in, and rustling in the bushes muffles all sounds. It is winter. When the wind dies down, the branches stand out graphically against the cold, gray sky. Crows fly in and caw, while the remains of large Neolithic stone graves lie on the hill. What is happening here? What has happened here in past centuries?
As a starting point for our printmaking work, we want to explore the landscape and its atmosphere around Scheersberg. Fields, trees, houses are visited, measured, drawn, and photographed—out into the landscape, into the workshop, out into the landscape… we spark our imagination.
So, especially at the beginning of the workshop week, we will be outside, observing perspectives, exploring places, collecting structures, and observing ourselves in the stories of old times between places. We will ask ourselves what processes lie behind the obviously perceptible and what position we ourselves take in this relationship. We want to process the material we find using etching, letterpress printing, typography, and digital techniques. This will allow us to create graphic prints, posters, homemade magazines, and animations.
